Prison Book Projects

The following are the most reliable sources that send books to prisoners on the West Coast. Please write them with your contact information, the regulations for your facility regarding books, and the category of books you'd like to receive, for example, political, legal, health, novels, poetry, history, writings by lesbian/bisexual/African-American/Chicana/Native American/ etc. women or any other topic., and any language requirements you have (if you want something other than English). Expect to get a postcard from them once they have mailed out your book, probably anywhere from 1-3 months after you request it. These organizations are completely volunteer-run, but they do try to respond to every request as soon as possible.

Las siguientes son las organizaciones que les mandan libros a los prisioneros en la costa del oeste. Por favor escríbale con la información de como alcanzarla, con las reglas de su facilidad sobre los libros, y con la categoría de libros que quisiera recibir, por ejemplo, sobre las políticas, las leyes, la salud; novelas, poesía, historia, escrituras de mujeres lesbianas/bisexuales/Africanas-Americanas/Latinas/Indígenas/etc., más el lenguaje en cual los quiere (si quiere algo no en Ingles). Le mandan una postal de la organización avisando que le mandaron su libro, probablemente entre 1-3 meses después que Ud. lo pida. Estas organizaciones son dirigidas solamente por voluntarios, pero tratan de responder a cada pedida que reciben lo mas antes posible.
