Waiting

Lonely days and lonely nights
Loss of love and loss of rights
Silent prayers and frequent tears
Fills the months and then the years.

Behind a cage and in a closed cell
Away from the gossip which creates a relentless hell
For only envy, jealousy and resentment is found
Making sure love, respect and compassion is never around

Someday I pray, the ugly lies and vicious tongues will end
By seeking goodness and truth and believing in God as a friend
For time on a clock here is always the same
From morning till evening dragging on as if its a game.

Yet tomorrow will arrive as another day, nothing new
Just trying to keep busy here is the hardest thing to do
So on the game board we are placed, day after day
Until the game is over, this is where we must stay.
