Pardons for Kemba, Linda and Susan

Our congratulations to Kemba Smith, a drug war prisoner, who was pardoned by President Clinton on December 22; and to Linda Evans and Susan Rosenberg two political prisoners who both received clemency commutations on their disproportionately long sentences and are now out of prison.

But none for Leonard Peltier

Our sorrow and anger at the denial of clemency for Native American political prisoner Leonard Peltier who has been in prison since 1977. Despite overwhelming evidence of his innocence and a massive international campaign demanding his release, Clinton chose to listen to the FBI agents who vehemently opposed his freedom.
