Women Granted Clemency

In July, Amy Pofahl, Serena Nunn, Louise House and Shawndra Mills, all serving long sentences on drug charges, were granted clemency by President Clinton. The Fire Inside sees this as an as an important step forward in the fight to release all women with severe, disproportionate sentences because mandatory minimums and conspiracy laws punish them for their personal connection with men involved in the drug trade.
