Open letter to women of color from women prisoners

Beverly Henry's open letter to women of color on the outside.

To Whom It Concern:

My name is Beverly Henry - I am serving time at Central California Women's Facility, living with HIV/HCV. As a prisoner of color I write on behalf of my fellow peers to alert women of color from our communities to "step up and speak out" for us behind these walls. We need you to advocate for us concerning our lack of proper medical care and numerous issues which should be discussed one on one, there are advocates who come to the prison in their spare time and we are sincerely grateful; but where are the women of color? Will you be willing to step to the plate and reach inside to your sistahs behind the walls of Central California Women's Facility, Valley State Prison for Women, and the California Institution for Women?
